Was That the Nexus 5 in Google's Android KitKat Promotional Video?

So it seems our buddies at Google have made a small mistake! Just recently the promotional video for Android 4.4, otherwise known as "KitKat" (yes the Nestle kind) was released on YouTube and other sources. In fact you might have been so busy digesting the news (see what I did there?) that you weren't thinking about the huge mass of smartphones in the video.

If you look at the official video closely, you'll see that at about 38 seconds, a Google employee is seen holding a black Nexus phone. The image above was uploaded by Taylor Wimberly, formerly of Android and Me, uploaded to Google Plus showing an enhanced close-up of the device.

For reference here is what the Nexus 4 device looks like. The phone in the video appears to have a matte black finish, which is new for the Nexus phones. There's also a horizontal Nexus logo, like the new Nexus 7 tablet. But the biggest reveal is the LG logo on the back. LG made the successful Nexus 4 and has been the rumored manufacturer for the Nexus 5 as well. So a potential LG Nexus 5 spotted on Google grounds seems entirely within the realm of possibility. Whether or not Google meant for anyone to see the phone is another question entirely.

"The Verge" has the official video since Google made the original video private.
